A Savage 10fcp in .308 Well i took it out for the first time to get it sighted in and i noticed that after about 4 shots, the blot action got harder. I got really difficult to retract the bolt and eject the brass. Why would this happen? Is it from the barrel heating up and swelling and basically the brass being "stuck" in the barrel? Or something else? You have to fiddle (as in gauge with a meter then correct) with how far the striking pin...I have seen a problem with Savage 110's with the front action bolt mashing down the plastic bushing in the stock and making contact with the bolt, causing many different problems. Since the bolt is a 2 piece design, it may be binding the firing pin. I know it will bind the bolt for sure.

I would be asking Savage, not us. If the receiver of the .223 gun is maxed out on the pressure it can withstand adding 8,000 psi might be a problem. Even if the outside bolt dimensions are the same you would still need to know if the receiver will handle the pressure. BUT, I do agree with @Cusz M. Dutch SASS Life 55326

Every one of them has been accurate, reliable and problem free. I have taken deer, elk, hogs and other various critters with Savage 1899's, 99's, Model 23's, pump .22's, 17HMR, 110's in 30-06, 112's in 22-250, 1920 in 250 savage and more. As far as the 110's and the 112 they have not given me any problems.

Jan 02, 2013 · My gun (savage 110 bolt action 30-06) has a problem. I hunted one evening and the gun took a bump. Nothing more than a bump that happens to most hunting guns at one time or another. After the hunt I unloaded the 3 cartridges without any problem. That entailed running all the bullets into the chamber and back out to eject them.
